Norms: In my parents country they were taught to say "Usted" to someone who is older. This is something that I always had trouble saying. If you was to say "Tu" to someone who is older you will be talked bad about throughout the family and seen as a bad child. My family values this a lot, which can show respect is something in my family that is vaule more than anything. Saying "Usted" to someone older than you is a way of showing them respect, and If you don't than you disrespected them and you are considering them any someone who doesn't get respect.
Culture shock: Carnival is a tradition that is always celebrated in Ecuador where people just throw flour on each other or water. Which I never knew about and learned this past year about. When I went to my mothers country and I saw everyone do this I felt like I did not belong there.
Culture War: I could say 100% that within my culture women are believe to stay at home with the children and the men are to go work and bring the money home. In my family this took place my mother told me, my father told her to stay home to raise my brother and I, while he works.Although I did not agree with this I started to realize why my dad thought this way. He explained to me that he did not trust anyone to stay with his children but himself or my mother.
Folkways: Dancers are a group in Cuenca, Ecuador. When ever there is an event like Carnival a dance is always expected.
Subculture: People that usually dress like this in Cuenca, we can tell that they still believe in the beliefs as Home medicines & don't adapt to new things, but just stick to their own beliefs. My grandmothers sister dressed like this and My mom told me I had to accept the fact that within my mothers culture was a other small one also.
Values:A value me and my family have is "Parents" as to also my extended family. But to me parents is people who gave you life and thanks to them you are in this world. I seen my past friends disrespect and even hit their parents. But to me I would never do that, I could say I'm attach to my parents and I respect them. This is my value and my families culture value.
Ideal Culture: "La Paz Del Nino" is reported to be a major belief for people in Cuenca. Which they walk around holding it around neighborhoods on December 24. My mom has one of these and we also practice this, as younger I did not believe in it and thought was a waste of time.
